Varieties of underfloor heating systems

Do-it-yourself installation of a warm floor under the laminate begins with a review of the most popular types of heating systems.

They are of two types:

  1. Electric. Heated using specialized electrical cables. In turn, warm electrical systems are divided by the type of heating element. It can be heating cables, heating mats, infrared heating (special thermal film). If you take into account the popularity of laminate flooring, you need to figure out which version of the warm floor is ideal for a laminate.
  2. Water. Heating occurs using polyethylene pipes filled with hot water. The essence of such a floor is laying between the floor covering and the floor of the underfloor heating circuits, directly through which the coolant is heated up to 45 degrees. The water floor is considered a low-temperature heating system, which goes well with the simplest and easiest flooring options.

Important! Infrared heating has no limitations in terms of the choice of finish coat for the floor. That is why this is the best option for installing a warm floor under such a modern type of coating as a laminate.

Self-laying of a warm electric floor

Now let's take a closer look at how to make a heated floor electric with your own hands under the laminate. The installed infrared heating is a construction of several layers: vapor and heat insulation layers, a lining made of plywood or chipboard, and a finish coating of the laminate. Due to this filling, the system functions as efficiently as possible.

Important! Infrared radiation is reflected from the heat-reflecting lower layer and then tends upward, so that the whole room is heated.

Installation is carried out according to the following instructions:

  • Since such a coating is laid only on a flat surface, the base is first aligned.
  • Then, the floor area that you plan to cover with a film is calculated, with the exception of those places where heavy furniture is located. At the same stage, the location for installing the thermostat is determined. It is better to make a scheme of the future gender in advance.
  • Now you can proceed with the installation of the roll heat-reflecting film. It is cut into strips of the right size, then laid on the floor surface. In order to avoid displacement of the strips of this film, they should be fastened together with adhesive tape.
  • After - the infrared film is laid, which is also previously cut into long strips, and they are located down the copper side. The bands are connected by adhesive tape.
  • The next step is to connect the terminals. They are installed directly on the copper strip so that one side is located inside, and the second is outside the film. Then the terminals are clamped securely with pliers.

Important! All places of cuts and contacts are insulated with bitumen insulation through two pieces.

  • Next, the temperature controller is mounted. The temperature sensor is located on the black strip of the thermal film. To prevent it being visible on the surface, you need to make a cutout in the reflective film in advance. Such cutouts are made under contact clamps and wires. This allows you to make the laminate coating as even as possible. On top of the location of the wires are sealed with tape.
  • The thermostat panel is installed on an already prepared place, wires are connected to it according to the scheme. Using a separate machine, the thermostat is connected to the mains.
  • It remains to test the system, setting the temperature at 30 degrees. As soon as the functioning of all elements is checked, the laminate is laid on an electric heated floor.
