In addition, they are used as a heater, which is especially true in the winter. But there is one caveat - they are quite difficult to fix in one place. Velcro

You can strengthen the mat with Velcro by gluing its outer part to the floor, and the fastener to the carpet. This method is suitable if the carpet is constantly in one place, and you do not plan to transfer it.

Special substrates

An excellent solution in this situation is to purchase a special anti-slip substrate. Carpet substrates have the following advantages:

• They partially relieve the load from the carpet and increase its service life.
• Thanks to them, the corners of the mat do not bulge and do not jam its individual parts.
• Most substrates can be washed, so they are reusable.
• Protect your flooring from damage.
• Environmentally friendly, breathable, heat and sound insulating.
• Strong, durable, suitable for underfloor heating and can be easily removed if necessary.

Important! They are made mainly of artificial materials - silicone, acrylic, rubberized thread, but there are also natural products. Substrates come in different thicknesses, which affects its softness and other properties.

A suitable product is selected depending on the size and density of the carpet itself:

• For tapestry and silk carpets, a special ultrathin backing is an excellent choice. Or you can use the grid. Grids with different mesh sizes are available.
• For bulky and heavy carpets, a substrate with a double-sided adhesive layer is suitable, which will ensure reliable fixation to the floor. Before laying, remove the protective film and fix the carpet.
