• “UHU Glass” is a transparent, quick setting compound which is suitable for gluing glass and crystal products. Resistant to UV radiation, alkalis, acids, tolerates high temperatures well. The time of complete polymerization is 1 day.
• “Done deal” is a repair kit that is often used by auto repair shop experts and car enthusiasts. The repair kit is suitable for restoring the integrity of the windshield, as well as for gluing glass and plastic headlights. The composition is sold fully ready for use, you do not need to mix the components. Using the repair kit, you can remove chips up to 2 cm.

Important! Also suitable polyvinyl acetate, “Mars”, “Phoenix”, “Moment”.

DIY glue making

If you are thinking about how to glue glass at home, you can make a fastener yourself. For this:

• Mix bone glue with a little ash and mix well. To fasten glass surfaces, pre-heat them.
• A good adhesive mixture is obtained by mixing two types of glue - silicate and casein, in a ratio of 10 to 1, respectively.
• For gluing glass to wood, it is good to use a mixture of wood ash with wood glue.
• Garlic juice is good for connecting small glass parts. At the same time, the junction remains transparent.

Sealant Application

Recipe 1

Ingredients:

• Beeswax - 20 g.
• Chalk powder - 100 g.
• Rosin - 200 g
• Drying oil - 110-120 g.

Stir all the ingredients, heat the mixture to a boil, then remove from heat and cool to 50 degrees. Add about 40-50 g of cement to the finished sealant, mix well again.

Recipe 2

There is another recipe, no less effective.Components:

• Epoxy resin - 200 g.
• Aluminum powder - 100 g.
• Dibutyl phthalate - 20 g.

The manufacturing procedure for the sealing composition is as follows:

1. First heat the epoxy to 80 degrees (to flow).
2. Add dibutyl phthalate, mix, and then inject aluminum powder.

Important! The resulting composition must be used immediately.

Surface preparation

• Before gluing the place, the connection must be preheated. It is necessary that the smallest, invisible to the eye, condensate evaporates. The warming temperature should be 30 degrees above room temperature.

Important! As a tool for heating, you can use a building hair dryer.

• First, check how tightly the parts to be joined fit together. If several parts need to be glued together, it is advisable to lay them out on a table and assemble them like a mosaic or puzzle.

• Apply glue very sparingly. In order not to apply it too much, you can use a dispenser.

UV curing adhesive

Today, compositions that harden after ultraviolet radiation are popular. They are used as transparent glue for glass and metal and for joining glass parts. The difference from the usual composition is that after joining the surfaces are irradiated with an ultraviolet lamp.

• The dimensions of the lamp must be selected so that the irradiation of the seam is uniform.

Important! UV radiation is dangerous for the eyes and skin, so you need to work with protective gloves and glasses. To avoid respiratory irritation, use a respirator.

• The duration of exposure, depending on the type of surfaces to be bonded, ranges from one to several minutes.
• When irradiated, the parts should not move relative to each other.
• After irradiation is complete, remove the fixing devices and remove excess glue.
