How to assemble a sofa?

A transforming sofa can be seen in almost every apartment. Such furniture is suitable for luxury apartments, and for tiny "Khrushchev" - this is a very convenient option. At the same time, very different models can be found in furniture stores, and sometimes the newly-made owner puzzles for a long time how to assemble a sofa, if he encounters a similar design for the first time.

Types of sofas

The design of the sofa is far from the only thing that you have to deal with, deciding to update the furniture in the bedroom or living room. The world of transformers is large and diverse.

In particular, furniture that can be used both for sitting and sleeping differs:

  • by appointment;
  • in form;
  • by the number of seats;
  • by design.

Why do you need it?

The division for the purpose is conditional. Before you begin to understand the instructions and decide how to assemble a sofa bed, it is important for the future owner to understand where exactly the new piece of furniture will stand.

The sofa can be designed:

  • for the living room;
  • for the bedroom;
  • for kitchen,
  • for children;
  • for the entrance hall;
  • for office or office.

Furniture designed for different rooms may vary:

  • dimensions;
  • transformation mechanism;
  • material.

For example:

  • The leather sofa of the “lit” system can be located in the office or in the kitchen, that is, where you do not have to think about where to put the bedding. This option is intended mainly to accommodate an occasional guest.
  • For children, bright upholstered furniture lined with microfiber is suitable.
  • Any furniture can stand in the living room - it all depends on the style and preferences of the owners.
  • For a one-room apartment, it is better to choose a model that is easy to understand.

The form

The times when exceptionally straight sofas were everywhere and everywhere were a thing of the past. Now large upholstered furniture can be located against the wall, and in the corner, and even in the middle of the room. Accordingly - it has a different shape.

On sale you can find sofas:

  • classic straight lines;
  • angular;
  • islets.

What to choose?

  • A direct sofa is set against the wall. It may look very elegant, but it has a significant drawback - very often, especially in small rooms, the corners remain free, but it is impossible to use them. Moreover, they are difficult to keep clean.
  • An angular sofa in this sense is much more interesting - it takes up much less space.
  • For spacious rooms, an island is also suitable. As a rule, it has a rounded shape - you can’t put it on a wall or in a corner. It is the center of the interior of a large living room.

The size

According to this parameter, sofas are conditionally divided into two categories:

  • indoor;
  • for public buildings.

Indoor - smaller, they are designed for 2-3 people to sit on them. Upholstered furniture for public buildings is designed for five people or more.

Important! There is no single standard for how much space a seated should occupy. So pay special attention to this parameter is not worth it. The dimensions themselves are much more important - the sofa should not occupy the entire space in the room, there should be free passages to other furnishings, as well as to the balcony, window, sockets, etc.

Transformation mechanism

This is perhaps the most important parameter. Even if you know exactly how to lay out a sofa for a book, this does not mean at all that you can handle constructions such as a dolphin or an accordion with the same ease.

What are the designs? There are several of them:

  • book;
  • Eurobook;
  • click clack;
  • accordion;
  • tango;
  • litas;
  • roll-out;
  • dolphin;
  • cougar.

Much depends on how correctly the mechanism is selected:

  • life time;
  • convenience of residents;
  • amount of free space in the room.

How is a sofa book laid out?

“Book” - perhaps the oldest version of the transformer. It decomposes simply:

  1. Raise the seat until it clicks.
  2. Lower the backrest at the same time.

If you need to assemble a sofa, do it the same way - the seat rises, then lowers, and the backrest also rises.

This is still a very popular model, which, however, has its drawbacks:

  • heavy weight;
  • the need to put at a distance of 15-20 cm from the wall (when folded, you can move closer).

If we talk about the merits, then they also have, and most importantly - a solid bottom and the fact that you can hide bedding in a box. In addition, you can sleep on such a sofa, even if it is assembled.

Eurobook

The design of the sofa “eurobook” is more modern and perfect. Such a transformer also weighs a lot, but in order to decompose it, you do not have to make big efforts:

  1. Locate the drawers under the seat.
  2. Pull the handle all the way.
  3. The seat will flip over to this drawer.

The surface is almost perfect. In addition, such a sofa in any position can stand close to the wall, it will not be necessary to move it back and forth. To assemble the convertible sofa, you need to turn the seat over and push the drawer.

In such a sofa bedding is also perfectly placed, so an additional closet is not needed. This option is more convenient than the usual “book” also because under it it is quite simple to do the cleaning - just pull out the drawer.

Important! “Eurobook” due to the extreme simplicity of design lasts longer than other folding furniture.

Click Clack, Tango, Accordion

These sofas appeared on the furniture market relatively recently. They are similar, sometimes there is confusion. For example, you see the word “tango” on a label or in a catalog and think that this is some kind of new design. In fact, “tango” is the same as “click-clack”, just for some reason the manufacturer decided to name it in his own way. And the “accordion” sofa - how does such a mechanism unfold? Almost the same as the “eurobook” and “click-clack”.

The distinctive quality of these structures is that they have not two, but three positions:

  • sitting;
  • half sitting
  • lying down.

The principle of the mechanism is very similar to that used in the “book” - you also need to raise the seat until it clicks. If we talk about the benefits, then there are several:

  • lateral parts easily turn into pillows;
  • takes up less space than a book.

Important! The disadvantages include high cost, high weight and the need to adhere to a distance of 15-20 cm from the wall in the “lying” and “half-sitting” positions. An absolutely flat surface when unfolding also does not work.

Lit

These are very compact sofas that almost do not take up space even when unfolded. The armrests are laid out, that is, we get a berth for one person.

The main advantages of such transformers include not only extreme compactness, but also the ability to put close to the wall, as well as adjusting the height and width of the armrests.

There are also disadvantages:

  • just one berth;
  • lack of a box for linen.

Roll-out sofa

It is similar to the “lit” model, but has a number of significant advantages:

  • can turn into a single, double or even triple bed;
  • sidewalls become pillows or soft supports - at the request of the owners.

The main disadvantage is the lack of a box for linen. In addition, the sofa, if fully expanded, takes up a lot of space.

Important! On sale, the roll-out sofa may be called the “telescope”.

Cougar and dolphin

Recently, such models have gained great popularity, especially among owners of small apartments. The mechanisms also belong to withdrawable ones, but have their own peculiarities.

How is a dolphin sofa laid out? Much simpler than other models of this type:

  1. Find a soft pen.
  2. Pull out the bottom of the seat.
  3. Lift the handle and pull it up with a little effort.
  4. Pull out the second berth.

The surface is almost flat. This is a very light model, even a child can disassemble and assemble it. Neither the back nor the seat need be touched.

Important! Unfortunately, this very attractive model lacks a box for linen. In addition, cleaning is somewhat difficult - in order to vacuum under the sofa, you need a special nozzle.

If we talk about convenience, then the best mechanism for transforming sofas for daily use is perhaps the “cougar”. This model is very similar to the “dolphin”, but there is a significant difference - nothing needs to be put forward, just raise the seat by the soft handle. Everything else will be done without your participation - the seat will stand on the supports.

Important! The disadvantages of the “cougar” are the same as that of other models of this type - the lack of a drawer and difficulties with wet cleaning.
