History tour

The cut “bat” came to us from antiquity. Due to its simplicity, it was used when sewing folk costumes in different countries of the world. It is enough to recall the Japanese kimono, the Mongolian “del” or the traditional costume of the Armenians.

If we talk about European fashion, the cut “blouse” blouse became popular at the beginning of the last century, when there was a keen interest in oriental culture.

The next round of increased attention to such clothing was recorded in the 50s in the form of dresses made of silk with a low armhole. They crawled in the shape of a rectangle. Accessories for such outfits were turbans and wide belts. The image looked very exotic, which can be confirmed in foreign films of that time.

The peak of popularity of the unusual, and at the same time, simple cut occurred in the 80-90s of the past century. Even then, every self-respecting fashionista knew how to sew a “bat” jacket with her own hands. Clothes with such sleeves were even worn for work.

Young girls wore “sweatshirts” reminiscent of tunics, with leggings and high-heeled shoes. Such a Look does not lose its relevance today.

  • With short blouses, both wide and narrow skirts of different lengths look great.
  • Also suitable are pants of different styles, depending on the type of figure.
  • You can wear narrower mini skirts, shorts, skinny jeans or leggings with authentic sweaters. To the latter add high-heeled shoes or ankle boots.
  • Look for a pleated mini skirt for a bat blouse.
  • If you are not tall, give preference to short sweatshirts “bat”. Length should not completely cover the hips.
  • Elongated blouses look advantageous on tall girls, emphasizing the legs and wrists.

Important! The “bat” blouse helps to hide the flaws of the figure. But at the same time - and its advantages will also not be visible to others. When choosing this style, we recommend using a belt or a stylish strap to mark the waist line.Especially this advice is worth listening to low women who have extra pounds. DIY blouse bat: step by step instructions

Before you make a pattern for a blouse with your own hands, you need to take basic measurements. You will need:

  • Product length in the middle of the back;
  • Sleeve and shoulder length;
  • Wrist circumference;
  • Hip circumference.

Pattern No. 1: with one-piece sleeve

For sewing, we recommend choosing a knitted fabric that is easy to work with. In addition, knitwear provides good drapery and lays on the hips.

Important! Take a piece of fabric with a width of 150 cm and 2 lengths of the model that you decided to sew. Add 10 cm to handle the bottom of the product.

Layout plan:

  1. Fold the fabric so that the seamy side is at the top. Then gently fold again so that the edges match perfectly. Fold is the center of the future product.
  2. In the middle, measure the required number of centimeters equal to the length. On the shoulder line, set aside 9 cm and add the length of the shoulder and sleeve to this figure.
  3. Then we work with the hip line - count on it ¼ of its circumference and draw a line from this point to the wrist in a semicircle. The sleeve turned out.

Important! If cuffs are planned on the sleeves, make a pair of trapeziums in height equal to the length of the cuff. The width of the wrist will be the width.

  1. On the bottom of the entire product and sleeves, allowances for seams will take about 3.5-4 cm. The remaining seams should be from 1 to 1.5 cm.
  2. Make a preliminary recess for the cutout, which can then be corrected during fitting.

fotorcreated2The first part of the work is completed. You can start sewing.

Important! This pattern is suitable if you decide to make a bat blouse with your own hands using threads and knitting needles. Unusually, the crocheted option will look. In the process of knitting, we recommend applying a blouse to the pattern and reducing / adding loops along the way.

Sew the product

To sew a bat jacket with your own hands, use a zigzag or elastic stitch:

  1. Tighten a little, process the neck with an oblique inlay, if it has an oval shape. Cut about 5 mm, twist the trim and sew the seam.
  2. Other neck options are machined with a grinder. Make a pattern of the element according to its shape, the width of which will vary from 4.5 to 5 cm.The product and the turning are folded together and sewn. Residues should be cut off, leaving an allowance of 5 cm wide. Then turn out the grind, iron with an iron and sew a neck along the edge.
  3. Fold the product over your shoulders, sew side seams and sleeves, and then overlay.
  4. Stitch the cuffs, if any, to the sleeves and sew along the entire length.
  5. Fold the allowance 2 times and sew the bottom of the sleeves and blouse.
  6. The product is ready. Just do not forget to iron it.

Pattern No. 2: with a detachable sleeve

For the pattern of the “bat” blouse with our own hands with a detachable sleeve, we focus on the following sizes:

  • Sleeve length - 61 cm;
  • Hip circumference - 106 cm;
  • Chest circumference - 100 cm.

Layout plan:

  1. Make two patterns of sleeves and strips for their processing 15 * 4 cm, prepare the back and front of the product.
  2. Since the seam allowances on the bottom of the sleeves and the blouse itself are already laid in length, add them to the remaining seams.

Sew the product

As with a one-piece blouse, select the zigzag or elastic seam when sewing:

  1. Iron the seam allowances on the wrong side of the neck and sew.
  2. Connect and stitch the product at the shoulders. The oversize on the neck should be sewn together without the help of a machine.
  3. Stitch up the sleeves.
  4. Sew the seams of the sleeves and side.
  5. Bend to the wrong side the allowances along the bottom of the blouse and its sleeves, sew.
  6. Make a stitch 3 cm from the seam on the sleeve, matching it with the marks on the pattern. Pull the stitch to 12 cm, fix with knots.
  7. Fold the strips of knitwear twice and sew, stepping back from the edge of 5 mm. Turn out and iron.
  8. Stitch the stripes to the sleeves.

Important! Based on this pattern, you can sew a “blouse” blouse with your own hands with sleeves of different lengths, as well as a dress or tunic, adding a few tens of centimeters of fabric.

Pattern number 3: with a belt

We examined the basic sewing options for sweaters or bat blouses. These patterns are suitable for this option.

If you want to make the model more interesting, for example, add a belt to it on the side, you will need another 1.7 m of fabric with a hip volume of 100 cm. With a smaller girth, 1.5 meters will be enough.
