What else is needed for christening?

In addition to a dress or shirt, you will need other items:

• diaper;
• bonnet.

Diaper

In the baptismal diaper, which is called kryzhma, the mother wraps the baby after it is dipped in the font. It is best to sew it from the same material as the dress or shirt. An ideal option is a cambric, it is soft, absorbs water well and at the same time looks very beautiful and noble. In fact, this is a traditional material for baptismal accessories.

Important! If the width of the fabric is 110 cm, you will need about half a meter. The traditional size of the kryzhma is 74x44 cm, but it can be cut in any direction. You will need another 2.5 m of lace sewing or soft lace.

Here's how easy it is to sew such a dowry:

1. Cut a rectangle of a given size.
2. Sew along the free edge with a basting seam, mid-length stitches, and do the sewing.
3. Fold the diaper and sewing with the right sides, aligning the free edge of the sewing with the diaper cut.
4. Take note of the sewing, not forgetting to fold the folds - pay special attention to the corners, they should look especially neat.
5. Stitch sewing.
6. Overlock the free edge of sewing and diaper sections together with an overlock.

Important! If you have a lace ribbon, you can first hem the edges of the kryzhma, and then sew the lace from the fold side.

Bonnet

You can carve it out by tearing up an existing bonnet of the right size - for sure your future goddaughter is not the only one. In extreme cases, you can then sew it again. It consists of two parts:

• the main part is a rectangle or a trapezoid;
• bottom.

The front part and the seam between the bottom and the main strip are trimmed with lace. Therefore, immediately prepare a piece that is approximately twice as long as the main part, and mark it along the free edge, laying the assemblies or folds:

1. Fold the lace strip with the main front sides so that the cut that will be sewn to the bottom completely coincides with the free edge of the lace.
2. Sweep blanks.
3. Bottom the bottom, folding it with the main part of the front sides.
4. Stitch the details.
5. Sew or sew over the bottom of the bonnet.
6. Lace up the front.
7. Sew the strings (you can also make them lace).
