Sew a dress-shirt

We sew this model of clothing from pre-purchased fabric in just a few hours. The silhouette and style of the shirt will be quite simple - slightly flared down, like a real dress for true ladies. The sleeves of the product will be seamless (one-piece) with wide cuffs, the collar is in the men's style and the fastener is on metal buttons. For work, we took the simplest fabric - cotton.

So, we begin to sew:

  1. First we need to make a pattern. To do this, draw 2 rectangles on the fabric (we took a length of 120 and a width of 90 cm), and then cut it out.
  2. Now we need to connect the rectangles and fold them in half. Measure your chest circumference. Starting from the center point, we measure a quarter of this measure with a straight line, adding an allowance of 5 cm.
  3. Further from the top edge we retreat down 30, draw another vertical line.
  4. We round off all the side corners, forming a flare on the bottom of the product. Draw the shape of the neck.
  5. Cut out all previously created sketches.
  6. We cut the shelf into two parts. First, we sew the shoulder seams first, and then the side seams, we process the edges on the overlock.
  7. We begin to sew cuffs. We cut two identical strips 12 cm wide, fold them together, sew the edges and sew them to the sleeves using a sewing machine.
  8. In order to make a fastener, we need to measure the length of the instrument part and cut out strips 10 cm wide and equal to the length previously measured.
  9. We sew a collar according to the pattern of the shape of the collar from the men's shirt. In this example, we need to carve out two details.
  10. For durability of forms, we glue a nonwoven collar and a fastener.
  11. We sew all previously made parts - the collar to the neck, stripes to the shelves.
  12. We attach buttons to the central edge of the front of the dress.

We sew a dress from an old shirt with our own hands

How to sew a shirt dress from a men's shirt? We will talk about this in a detailed master class. Therefore, stay with us to find out more information.

Let's prepare the necessary materials and tools:

  • An old shirt with a long sleeve (preferably without a pocket).
  • Scissors.
  • Measuring tape.
  • A piece of chalk.
  • A piece of old cloth.
  • Ripper

Step-by-step algorithm of actions:

  1. First you need to think about the type of future dress that you would like to get as a result of all the work done. There are a lot of styles, so, having decided, start sewing.
  2. We take measurements of our figure, and then measure them on an old canvas with chalk or a pencil (if it is a light fabric).
  3. We make a pattern in accordance with the chosen dress design and your previously made measurements. Gently cut the fabric with scissors.
  4. We pick up the old men's shirt and get rid of the pocket (if one is available). For this process we use a seam stripper to remove the seams.
  5. Using scissors, we cut the shirt along the previously outlined lines.
  6. All measurements must be kept in mind. We go down from the collar by 6 cm and make a mark - this will be the neckline of our dress.
  7. We noted all the measurements of the dress on the men's shirt. Now we have a sample of our future product. Relying on your personal preferences, we cut out the shape of the desired neckline. We process the edges on a typewriter with an ordinary or overlock seam.
  8. Now you can try on a shirt. If you are comfortable with such a neckline, then nothing needs to be fixed. The shape of the neckline must be formed correctly at the very beginning, otherwise - then you can close too open areas only with lace or a wide frill.
  9. Now we need to make a belt. To do this, you can use a wide satin ribbon or fabric piece of a different color. After processing the edges of the option you have chosen for the belt, we sew it to the waist line of our almost finished product. So we get a pretty stylish belt, which will always be with you.
  10. You can decorate a shirt dress with rhinestones, braid, lace, beads, embroidery and other elements of decoration.

Your new dress is ready to surprise your young man with your new transformation!

Important! Sleeves can be left or ripped off - as your soul desires. Bottom with rounded sides will add sexuality to the image. We recommend using these cutouts to look even more charming.
