Putty Bottle Decor
Decoupage technique attracts the attention of a large number of people. It has different types, but the most attractive is the volumetric option. The technique is unusual, paper is not used in it, but clay or putty is used to create 3D paintings. Very popular is the decoration of bottles with putty. Putty is an inexpensive and excellent material with which you can make a pattern or picture. Such a bottle will decorate the festive table, it can be presented to a colleague, girlfriend, mother. Do-it-yourself filler of a bottle can be done if materials and tools are prepared in advance.
Necessary materials and tools:
- A bottle to be decorated.
- Primer for glass surfaces.
Important! Use building primer, which is used for priming ceilings. It is necessary to apply 3 layers.
- Primer for wood. Any deep penetration soil is suitable.
- Primer for metal surfaces. Suitable in aerosol.
- Putty. Latex is best suited - it is flexible and perfectly processed with sandpaper.
- Clay “Moment”.
- Lacquer. For volume and protection.
- PVA glue.
- Two bottles with narrow necks for applying delicate ornaments.
- Palette knife to adjust the picture.
- Sandpaper.
- A brush about 4 cm wide.
- Paper.
- Water.
- Rag.
- Paint.
- Stencil.
to contents ↑Important! Do not use silicone glue that contains acetic acid. It impregnates paper very quickly and is not suitable for volume decoupage.
Decoupage bottle putty
After you have prepared all the necessary tools and materials, you can decorate the putty of bottles.

Phased work:
- Degrease the container, ground in 3 layers.
Important! Each primer coat should dry for 5 hours.
- Tear the paper into pieces and soak in water, after - lay out to drain the water on a cloth.
- Paste with PVA glue the future masterpiece with this paper, let it dry.
- Prepare the putty. In 500 grams of putty, add 3 tbsp. l glue “Moment”, mix and leave to thicken in the open air.
- Brush putty on the product.
- Give the surface the desired look and let it dry. For example, if you slap slightly on the surface of the product with the entire plane of the brush, you will get burrs, and if you drive with a brush in one direction, create a wood effect.
Important! Do not putty the neck on which the label is stuck.
- Apply the desired drawing through a stencil or draw an ornament yourself, using a bottle with a thin nose or a palette knife.
Important! Apply the ornament only on the 4th part of the craft, as it dries on its side so that the pattern does not slip.
- After coating the bottle with putty, add streaks.
- Fill the voids between the ornament with a brush and putty.
- Leave to dry for a day.
- Remove all defects, sanding.
- Cover the picture with acrylic paint or gouache.
- Color the neck to the color of the craft, decorate with any decorative elements.For example, pebbles, rhinestones, beads, ribbons, small flowers and leaflets, sewing accessories, sparkles.
- Prime the surface and apply tint or varnish.
- Let it dry.
Decoupage of the putty is complete. You can also give the bottle the look of cast metal - for this you need silver or golden paint. Apply the decor as you wish. Use your imagination and create unusual products.
